Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Every Day
We recommend that fruits and vegetables should be the cornerstone of your diet. They are low in calories, and high in vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and fiber. Experts suggest that you should eat 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. That suggested amount of fruits and vegetables seems to be difficult for many people to eat every day. Busy schedules, eating on the run and the temptation of junk foods are all barriers to getting enough of them into your diet. Do you need some help getting more fruits and vegetables into your diet?
Here are some tips:
MAKE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES CONVENIENT AT HOME Apples, pears, bananas, oranges and cherry tomatoes don't need any refrigeration. So we suggest keeping your fruits and vegetables in plain sight on your counter top or table. When snack time rolls around it will be easy to grab a piece of fruit or a handful of cherry tomatoes instead of the refrigerator door.
With this idea in mind, make sure you keep the cookie jar and the candy bars out of sight or better yet, don't have them at all.
Frozen vegetables are very convenient for meal times. They can be heated in just a short time on the stove or in the microwave. You can choose single vegetables such as peas, carrots, green beans, and cauliflower, or you can try some deliciously seasoned blends of vegetables, just make sure that they are low-sodium brands.
Pre-cut vegetables and fruit are convenient, but don't buy them with the idea that they will last a long time. Fruit may begin to spoil within a day or two after cutting; however some fruits can be purchased in frozen or canned forms that last much longer.
The pre-cut and pre-washed salads-in-a-bag make meal time easy too, just don't assume that the pre-washed salad blends are really clean. Give them a good rinse before preparing your meal.
MAKE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES CONVENIENT AT WORK Dehydrated fruits such as raisins, dates and dried cranberries keep well in plastic bags. Tuck a bag of raisins in your purse, car or bag for an easy snack. Another idea is to keep single serving packs of apple sauce or fruit cups that don't need refrigeration; these can be kept at your desk at work. It's also good to pack sliced carrots and celery with your lunch to have ready for a nutritious afternoon snack.
We know that eating away from home can be difficult, but with some thought you can still get enough fruits and vegetables into your diet. At lunch, choose a side salad instead of french fries and drink water with lemon instead of a soda.

This Is What We Do By Instructor David Knox
The lead instructor passes you. "Good morning!" he calls out. "Good morning," you answer, bewildered. "Who are you guys?" "Extreme Boot Camp" comes the reply, "and it's a beautiful day!"
The sun is up now, its first golden rays slanting over the misty field as the squads stand in rows, mats on the ground before them, steam rising from their bodies as they go through a steady series of relentless exercises. The instructor sings out and the group responds, counting reps
"Up down up down out down up! "One!" "Up down up down out down up!" "Two!"
Other instructors pass through the ranks, correcting form, reviewing food journals, offering encouragement. What an inspirational scene! The sound, the energy, the crisp response to the commands - all those people working together, dedicated, pushing hard, giving their best for themselves and their squad and, ultimately, for improving their lives.
This is what we do. This is Extreme Boot Camp - an intense, six week, military based fitness program designed to jump start even the most de-conditioned people* on the road to better health, better self image and an improved quality of life. Begun on a chilly, rainy, pre-dawn morning on February 1, 2002, in La Canada, California, Extreme Boot Camp has been growing ever since. From that first hardy group of thirteen, plus three instructors, EBC now has six camps per day, a dozen working instructors, and a combined attendance of more than 235 motivated souls. We've also recently begun a low impact Beginners' Boot Camp for those who don't feel ready to take the plunge straight into Extreme Boot Camp, and it's really taking off!
Over the past five years, approximately three thousand people have passed through our ranks and many of them keep coming back for more.
The stories are astounding:
"This is the best thing that ever happened to me!"
"I thought I was going to be a widow... my husband was in terrible shape and he was starting to have health problems. Now he's stronger and healthier than he's ever been!"
"It has turned my life around! I recommend it to all my friends and family."
"At first, people at work thought I was crazy" (for enrolling in EBC). They all thought I wouldn't last. Now they see the results and they can't believe it. Every day someone is saying how much better I look. And I can feel it! I have more energy, more enthusiasm, and I feel happier!"
We've heard hundreds of such statements, and they never fail to make us smile. Knowing we've been instrumental in helping someone significantly improve their life brings a very good feeling indeed. Still, how does Extreme Boot Camp work? What inspires so many individuals to show up, day after day, often sore, tired and stressed out from the quality of the program. put themselves through a grueling, hour-long workout that challenges not only the limits of their physical endurance, but their strength of will as well?
Short answer- the expertise and dedication of the instructors and the quality of the program.
